Miss quoted maintenance

Updated by user Mar 15, 2024

They responded quickly, listened and came to an agreement.

Original review Mar 09, 2024
This is about the Firestone on Travis AFB. They are scammers, liars, unprofessional and the store manager Monica was very rude.

My young son had taken his vehicle in for a simple oil change and they ended up doing more work on his vehicle without his consent and charged him over $600. When my son tried to fight it and refused to pay they held his car hostage. Monica and her employee Isaac swore up and down that my son gave them consent and when he asked for proof that he gave them consent they couldnt prove it and ended up calling security forces and told them all kinds of lies. My son had no choice, but to pay the money if he wanted his car back.

We tried to reason with her and asked if she could meet him half ways, but she was so rude, very disrespectful and unreasonable. They had him sign a contract, but told him it was for his oil change. They only showed him 1 piece of paper and when he went to pay they had a stack of papers. My son had told them no on any other service over the phone, but Monica says he said yes.

They take advantage of young people and miss quote their customers. How is this business helping our military community?

How are they even allowed to treat their customers this way? I looked at there reviews and it turns out we are not the only ones they did this too.

Left my car not drivable

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Despite the mechanics seeming trustworthy in store , they messed up my car and left it completely not drivable. Car was in worse shape than when i dropped it off.

I learned from taking it to the Subaru dealership that they put in a broken power steering pump, left the Tie rod bolts loose and misdiagnosed the oil problem and left it dumping oil all over the engine.

The issues weren't a dealership problem; I was told any mechanic shop could have fixed them. I filed a claim several weeks ago and when i call the corporate office they tell me a case advisor will call in 2-5 days and i have yet to receive a phone call.

Dishonest and Unreliable service

After I wrote this review this is how the story developed. They charge us $600 and asked us to pick up our vehicle on Sunday afternoon.

We assume they finish their job including the state inspection that they supposed to do. Today January 25th when we are trying to...

Original review Jan 20, 2024
We took our car today arround 12;00 pm to Firestone located at 2665 Main St, Frisco,Tx 75036. We request them for oil change and state inspection only.

They called us arround 4/4:30 and leave a voice mail by saying we have some recomendation for you, we call them back and they said your oil pan need to be replace as it got dammeged. When I asked them my car was absolutely drivable so how it get dammeged they said probably the people did your oilchange before put it in a wrong way. Now my question is if they are the one who dammeged it then how come I was driving it for 6 month with no issue. How come they damaged the oil pan and we still managed to drive it for 6 month and now its in a undrivable condition.

Also we asked them what proof do you have that you didn't brake the pan. Also why you call us and said you have recomendation, when its absolutely not possible to drive the car without the service then it does not count as a recomendede service any more. The store manneger was extremely rude and told us either you let us fix it for $600 or tow your car. We call the customer service number and they talk to the store but didn't find any resolusion.

Then we request them to keep the car for a day and let us think what do we want to do with it, the store manneger said we will charge you $40 for parking each additional day.

We are servising our cars with firesstone for more then 10 years now but after this experience not only we will never go back there, we will do our best to stop our friends and family to go there. It's so unfortunate when a company as big as Firestone do the dishonest one time business.

Complaint Regarding Service on December 19 at Firestone in Bloomington, college mall

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally complain about the service I received at your Firestone location on December 19. My visit was specifically for the removal of two stripped lug nuts on the right rear wheel of my car.

I made it explicitly clear to the front desk, specifically to an individual named Bray as per my email correspondence, that only these two nuts required attention, and the others should remain untouched.

Upon returning home, I discovered that the other three lug nuts had been overtightened. This action was undertaken without my permission or discussion, which is deeply concerning and unprofessional. When I contacted the front desk to address this issue, Bray denied having touched the three nuts, contradicting the evident problem I faced.

Prior to my visit, my socket fit these nuts perfectly. Post-service, this was no longer the case, indicating unauthorized tampering.

Furthermore, during our conversation, Bray resorted to threatening me with police involvement if I did not leave the premises, an action I found completely unwarranted and discriminatory. As an Asian woman, I am left to wonder if my ethnicity influenced the treatment I received, which is disheartening and unacceptable.

I also wish to bring to your attention that the tires on my vehicle were installed at the same Firestone location in January of this year. I suspect that the stripped nuts might be a result of over-torquing during that installation. When I inquired about a possible discount or free replacement considering this could be a residual issue from the previous service, I was flatly refused.

This experience has significantly diminished my trust in Firestone.

I have been a loyal customer, expecting professional and respectful service. Instead, I am left disappointed and disrespected.

I seek a formal explanation for this incident and an assurance that such incidents will not recur. I also expect appropriate compensation for the undue stress and potential damage to my vehicle.

I look forward to your prompt response to resolve this matter satisfactorily.

Sincerely,

Huiqi

The air conditioner died 300 miles from my destination (Columbia, SC). Two days after arriving, the vehicle would not start.

The vehicle was towed to Firestone. The alternator was replaced (the AC was the origin of the problem). The alternator markup price was 53% (charged 313.99). A belt costing $22.79 cost me $99.99 (338% markup).

A charge was made for running dye into the AC (the AC was not working; this was a false charge). After being repaired, the car died 2 miles from Firestone. The car was towed ($100) to Firestone after a 3-hour wait. The AC was replaced; I was charged $541.99 for an AC that cost $261.99 (125% markup).

My car was scratched in the shop. Home office (Bridgestone) was contacted 8/6/23. Calls began a week later. No written response until 8/31/23.

Finally got to legal, who offered to pay for the tow and $100 for my inconvenience. He (Nick Mann, attorney) refused to reveal the pricing structure for parts. This appears to be a pattern. Mann challenged me to find a court of jurisdiction.

I see more customers who have experienced the same victimization. Bridgestone is raping customers by overcharging for parts. I smell a class action suit brewing, and I know how to cook one.

Bridgestone's lawyers should be careful what they ask for. I invite other victims to contact me directly.

An attorney in your office of legal counsel challenged my resolve and offered an insulting and dismissive compensation. The damage to my car (gouge with the key) and refusal to divulge the method (if it exists) of parts pricing is contemptuous.

While my claim might get settled, the door has been opened for customers to make a claim. Mr. Nick Mann will be answering to someone other than me.

If you wish to review my file and contact me, I will entertain your offer. Jim Simms

Dishonestly and accountability, didn't fix car instead added to issue

Work order: 276377 Store #: 028444 Service Advisor: 13 PARKER

Im Derand Lee, and I have lost trust in Firestone Complete Auto care. I dont believe they have been truthfully and they have been extremely deceiving.

They have had my car 4 days going on 5 now. I booked an appointment for my 2010 Audi A6 with Firestone Complete Auto care located at 10553 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32257-**** for September 3rd 2023 at 1200 est. I booked the appointment because I suspected a small leak of antifreeze from my vehicle. I say small because it didnt leak on to the ground.

I only noticed it because every 4 or 5 days for 3 weeks, my low coolant alert would come on and I would add more coolant. I made my appointment with Firestone and explained the same. The employee acknowledged and said they cant run leak test and let me know where the leak is coming from. Later that day Firestone called and said I needed to replace the water pump, as it was the issue and had the leak.

I agreed for to the repairs over the phone. I was told the part had to be ordered and will be in on Monday. On Monday, September 4th, toward the end of the work day nearing 4 pm, I received a call from Firestone. The employer stated that they cant complete the work due to my car having a supercharger (which is standard factory for my vehicle) and explain they dont do work on supercharges.

I was told it would need to be taking to the Audi dealership. He also asked has anyone done any work to my engine. I felt that to be odd, but I answered no because no one had. I asked why and he stated it looked like it had been.

So then said no again and asked where the mechanics able to reassemble my vehicle. He said that no one took anything apart and that no one touched it. I questioned his statement, and he doubled down that no one touched my car. He told me there would be no charge for the leak test or the part that was order and that I can come pick-up my car.

My wife leaves work early to take me to get my vehicle, we arrived about 20 minutes before closing. The explains the same and again tells me no one touched the car. I get my keys to retrieve my car. Before I started my car I wanted to check my coolant level because the things told to me didnt make sit right nor make a lot of sense to me.

I look at my coolant level and it was extremely low. It was full when I drove it to them. I went to put more coolant in the reservoir tank. When I touch the tank to remove the top, I notice the tank moved to freely, it wasnt firmly secure as it once was.

I then notice a hose coming from the tank dangling and detached from something going into the engine. I also see coolant spilled about the bottom area of the engine. I immediate go back inside and notify the employees. The manager came out and looked for himself and said oh man I see it, this is probably your problem.

Dont worry we will order a new hose and replace it. You told me no one touched my car, it clearly look as if someone did. He said I was told it wasnt touch but I see what you are saying, but no worries we will order another hose. I had to call my wife back to come pick my up from Firestone.

On Tuesday September 5th, I received a call from Firestone. The employee told me that a claim had been made for my vehicle and they are waiting on a decision to come back to tell them what to do with my vehicle. I didnt understand why a claim needed to be made. I asked why is there a claim if you didnt touch my vehicle?

The employee tapped danced around my questions and told me it was out of there hands essentially and claims will be contacting me. Today, September 6th, I reached out to Firestone for a status of my vehicle. No status, other than a claim is in. I have yet to receive a call from claims.

I told the employee that was unacceptable and I have been without my vehicle for 4 days. I dont have an alternate car. I asked will Firestone assist in rental and he said no.

I am a retired Navy Officer of 23yrs, I know when someone is blowing smoke. This is exactly what Firestone is doing.

I believe they attempted to work on my vehicle and ran into issues but will not disclose that to me. My car is a standard 2010 Audi A6 with no modifications. Before Firestone began the leak test to determine my the should have known and/or looked at the factory specifications of my vehicle to see it was a supercharger, not to mention its a badge on the side of the car that says supercharger. They continue to order a part that they believed I needed to make repairs without verifying if they can install it.

Once the part arrived, it was suddenly discovered that my car has a supercharger, and they cant do the workI dont believe it! They then question me on if anyone had done engine work to my vehicle.nonsense! I believe they attempted to work on my vehicle and couldnt repair it so they button it back up. However, they didnt tighten down the coolant reserve tank as it once was and somehow detached the hose leading from the reserve tank to the engine (it is detached from the engine side).

I feel they are trying to manipulate me. This is completely unacceptable. I have been a loyal customer at this Firestone for 3yrs. I have always taken my wife car there.

This was the first I have taken my Audi. That was against my better judgement, but I figured whats the harm in just finding the leak. Well going on 5 days later without my transportationit was significant harm. I was able to drive my car there, but I cant drive it away because of something they have done.

I want my car the hose put back intact, and car fixed.

I have to find a ride to work due to Firestone negligence. This is shameful for an established auto mechanic establishment.

WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I made an online appointment for firestone tires, I get there a week later, they don't have the tires I requested, didn't tell me before I waited a week, suggested the bridgestone at a discounted rate to match what I wanted, okay, purchased them they were quick to add lifetime alignment and hazard for the tires at a lot higher charge without even asking if I wanted those upgrades, 5k miles later, truck shakes and bounces, front tires feathered, took it in for a "policy" alingment, told me it was out, no paper work to prove any thing was done, I rotate the tires myself, truck still shakes and at 10k mile I check and the front tires are feathered again, called service manager [Justin] to document my concern, told me to bring it in, did so on a friday morning, called sat at 4pm to check on it, was told they are working on it now, I work in the same type retail industry, I know for a fact they just went to bring it in to look at it after I called, 1 hour later I get a call stating that the front tires are cupped but meet the manufactures specs, and told me to rotate the tires every 2k miles, so I was pretty much told in a very nice manner to f off there is nothing wrong that they could help me with, truck still shakes and steering wheel has a vibration, the truck was written up for a tire balance and alignment they did nothing after holding my truck for two days, I will not go to another firestone dealer anywhere in the country, their claim we make things perfect is bs and they know it----Work Order # {{Redacted}} CLERMONT

Took $1095 and asked to sell car in junk

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I dropped my car in "Firestone Dunwoody Atlanta 30346" at approx 1PM on 3rd August. I explained the issue of car stalling and engine turning off to Alex who was on counter.

I specifically mentioned this is an old car, so please do diagnostic first and let me know if I can drive this car after fixing it.

Alex said he will get Diagnostic done (of $105 approx value) and inform in approx 2 hours.

There was no communication till 4:30PM and when I called, I was told they are not able to figure out the issue of leak. Then I called again at 6:40PM approx to know the status and I was told there are few sensors which are bad and that will fix the "engine light on" issue.

I asked what about car engine stalling issue and he said there is no mention about it. I again explained him the issue which I explained to Alex while dropping the car. Then he said it might be Alternator issue and he will get checked next day 8/4 as it was their closing time.

I called them again next day 8/4 at approx 10:30AM to know the status.

Then Alex said that Alternator is good but Radiator has a crack which caused leak. So we need to fix it and flush coolant and add new coolant. I said I will come to office and have face to face discussion. I visited office and discussed in detail.

I specifically asked if I will be able to drive my car after this for at least 1-2 months as its an old car and I can spend money if I can drive it for sometime. He said YES you will be able to as this will fix the issue. Quote was given for $1152.

I authorized this service based on that confirmation. Alex said it will take approx 4 hours time and car will be ready by 6PM - 6:30PM.

But there was no communication at all.

When I called at 6:25PM, I was told car will be ready in 15 min. So I visited office at 6:45PM but to my surprise, my car was in complete open state and work was not done.

When I asked Alex, he said Technician has left and he was busy on other job so he didnt finish my work and I need to come next day 8/5.

I received a call on 8/5 at 10:30PM approx that after replacing Radiator and coolant, they suspect that Head Gasket is gone. They will replace Thermostat and do some more testing to confirm it and added more charge of $250 approx for Thermostat. At this point also I asked the same question if I will be able to drive it.

Alex said he talked to technician and confirmed that I will be able to drive it a bit and take home or some local driving. I visited store at 1PM approx and was told that I can drive it home and some local driving but not more than that.

I had questions to Alex and later with service manager there that since I clearly set my expectations right at start while giving the vehicle that I agreed for repalcing Radiator and coolant on promise that I will be able to drive it for couple of months. And thats why Diagnostic was done for $105. They just said they could't figure out beforehand.

After lots of arguments, I was made to pay $1095 after opening a new FSNA card to add discounts etc and gave me the key saying I can drive it to home safely.

As soon as I started car and started moving, it stopped again right in Firestone parking area itself. I tried again and same thing happened. SO I called Alex again to check it. He called Tim (technician who worked on my car) and both of them just said to sell car to Junk.

My question was if they already knew car is not ready to drive, why did they add those parts and charged me $1095. They didnt have answer to it and just asked me to park my car in their parking lot for couple of days and figure out where to sell it, call junk guy and tow it.

I am very sure they knew car will not be drivable even after replacing Radiator and Coolant but they still went ahead and changed those. And later added Thermostat also. Had they told me about this before, I would have never gone ahead with it.

They made false promises till they took money and later changed completely. This is a pure looting of innocent customers who shows trust in Firestone. You guys took away my hard earned money $1095 and returned car without any imporovement.

IF this is the knowledge level of your technician, you need to relook at it.

This is the most pathetic service I have ever received ever. I am a Firestone customer since 2015 but never again.

I have recorded my conversations with Alex and Tim, I will go and explore legal option of this malpractice.
